- Răzvan, the national team is in front of a new beginning, and the public hopes to win through this black period...
- I contradict you, the past is not that black. Ten months ago, Romania was part of the 24 teams qualified at Euro.
- «He is too young» we heard this quite often, everybody tries to «make you older», are you annoyed about this?
- I feel good the way I am. I am aware of the age I have.
- Do you think we have chances to qualify now?
- Every time we’ll enter on the field to win. I know that we have just a few points, that the program is difficult...Many people speak about the rejuvenation of the team, but young players cannot be trained with defeats. You cannot rebuild by being open to ridicule or without the experienced players alongside. Look at Arsenal, which has amazing young players, but they do not manage to reach the final aim!
- You discussed with Mourinho. What can you take from him to our national team?
- One may receive some pieces of advices from anybody, it is important to adapt them. The team Inter is very different from the national team of Romania. But I liked his idea of group administration. I had another impression about him, but he is close to his players.
- So,do you think you will be able to understand the players when they have a problem?
- I think you should help a player when he has a problem. If you help him, he is motivated to do the best. And he remembers that you supported him when he needed. I have an example with my father, when he trained Beşiktaş: an important player left home from the training camp. He turned back at dawn. My father reprimanded him, but he had found out that he had some problems with his wife. He decided not to discharge him. In that match, the player was the best on the field and he even scored the victory goal.
"The positive trick"
- Hagi made his debut at the national team with Mircea Lucescu as a coach. Who is going to be the star you will promote in the struggle?
- I am going to tell you this at the end of the mandate.
- Is there any genius?
- I cannot tell you now. The most important thing is that players must have a very good tactic culture. They should know to pass easily from a system to another. Which will be the system? I think that 4-4-2 is very suitable for our football. From this system you can pass easily to 4-2-3-1 and to other systems.
