The coach of the team Şahtior Doneţk, Mircea Lucescu, declared after winning the match with Dinamo Kiev, victory which meant from the mathematic point of view to obtain the title of Ukraine, that the team he rules has no excuse if they don’t play in the spring of Champions League.
"I transmit my appreciations and thanks to the team, to the players, to the technical staff who contributed to obtaining this title. This was one of the most difficult championships. Last, but not least, I appreciate the president of the club, who loves this club, he made efforts and he deserves our applause. This year we have no excuse if we do not play in the spring in Champions League", said Mircea Lucescu
Asked whether he will even return to Romania to coach, Lucescu answered: "In a second life".
The Romanian coach has appreciated the public support, which he considered essential in winning the title. "I think the difference between us and Dinamo Kiev is owed lately to our public, which fill the stadium at every match. I hope their example will be taken by Kiev, too and I hope the stadium to be full at the opening match", said Lucescu.
Mircea Lucescu thinks that the team he rules matured and can hope to better results. "The team matured, it evolved very much. The players matured in comparison to five years ago. Both the Brazilian and the Ukrainian players. There were six years with four titles very important. I hope to continue on this direction", explained he.
Lucescu said that he didn’t think to celebrate the title after the match with Dinamo Kiev. "We haven’t prepared for champagne. I didn’t allow the players to think that today we will take the championship; we have left with the thought to win this match. Nobody will take holyday. I have hardly allowed them to be off duty today. We cannot afford to go to the next match disconcerted. Our responsibility grows as long as we obtain more and more titles", mentioned the coach.
