Andrei Pavel left the last professional tournament of his career in the first tour, being defeated by Pablo Cuevas, with the score 6-3, 7-6. He received standing ovations from the public for a lot of minutes refusing to let him go from the field.

Andrei Pavel was born on January 24, 1974, in Constanţa. He won 3 single titles at simple and 6 doubles titles.

"I have always liked to play at Arene. Cuevas is a very talented player and very good. He is 13 years younger than me and this thing was seen on the field.

I think I played good, although I couldn’t train too much. I am glad that I played the last match at home, this is what I wanted.

I thank from the heart to all those who came to see me",
said Andrei Pavel who was for the first time in his career on the central field from Arenele BNR as single player.

Today he will play also in a double match, together with his friend and partner in the double matches Gabriel Trifu.

"Andrei Pavel is an example for all the teenagers in the country. He is a great patriot. He made a lot for the Romanian tennis"
