The first surprise from BCR Open Romania was brought by the Spanish Santiago Ventura who defeated in two series the no. 4 favorite, Igor Andreev. Ventura came from qualifications and he managed to defeat the Russian in two series, with the score 6-4, 6-1.
"I played good and I feel excellent on the field. I glad that I won. Andreev is a good player and it is hard to defeat him. I hope to play good from now on, too and reach as far as possible", said Santiago Ventura.
This was our first meeting from an ATP tournament.
Ventura’s next adversary will be the winner between the French Florent Serra and Alberto Martin.
