About two times a year, Romanian boxing fans wake up early in the morning. Lucian Bute is the one that they do it for. Since he became champion in 2007, the Romanian boxer puts his belt in the line every 6 months. Until now he managed to keep it for 6 matches. VIDEO 2 - Lucian Bute vs Jesse Brinkley!
To weak for Bute
Jesse Brinkley was to weak for Lucian. In Bell Center, Montreal, in front of over 12.000 fans the Romanian pulled up a great show and destroied his opponent. Brinkley tried to stay close to Bute, but he was immediatly send into his corner. The American escaped the first four rounds, but enough VIDEO 3 - Lucian Bute vs Jesse Brinkley! (video)
In the fifth round, Jesse was on the floor. Bute's uppercut to the stomache dropped Brinkley to his knees. Luck was on his side, because the referee took his time counting to ten and then send him to his corner. The bell rang and the American was saved. Again Bute send Brinkley down. Blood was everywhere, but the American survived yet again.
The 22nd KO
It was clear that Bute was heading towards a win. In the next round, Brinkley was down again and down he stayed after receiving an uppercut to the face. Lucian raised his hands in the air as a sign of victory and the 12.000 started chanting his name: Bute! Bute! Bute! This was his 22nd KO.
Diaconu want a title match
The ex-WBC world champion Adrian Diaconu is again one of the contenders for the world title. He won in ten rounds againts USA's Omar Sheika by decission. It was a tough match because Diaconu was down in the second round, but manage to turn the fight in his favour. In April Diaconu could fight four the IBF world title. JoJo Dan also won his match in Montreal with a KO against Andres Villafane.
