Romania had fun last night, at Sighişoara, in the match against Portugal, the "tricolors" will play on Saturday in Switzerland
In 2005, Romania won at Sighişoara with 27-21 against the team of Czech Republic in the preliminaries of the World Championship and then, played the world final with Russia, at Sankt Petersburg. Last night the "tricolors" defeated Portugal with 37-23, at Sighişoara, too, and in December, the handball players hope to reach again in the final of the World Championship, in China.
The Romanian girls have won very easily and they had no difficulties with the Portuguese players, even if they came with their stars, Barbosa and Sousa. Radu Voina’s players had a very good start which disarmed the adversaries. Manea, Neagu, Maier scored again and again, Florentina Stanciu closed the goalpost and Romania has already taken the head at the end of the first half with 19-8. Radu Voina changed the lined just like it happens at hockey, but Vărzaru, Amariei, Stanca, Ada Moldovan continued the show. The difference grew continuously, and the adversaries were lucky that in the end the Romanians had pity on some Portuguese who were always gasping behind the "tricolors".
"It has been the easiest match of Romania since I am the spotter. We took measures in Portugal, at the European Championship from last year they showed a different “face”, but now the difference between the two teams is very big", declared Radu Voina. "It has been a long time since we last played with such a weak team. Perhaps in the Romanian championship they wouldn’t be above the 7th – 8th place", said Oana Manea.
In the other match of the group, Ukraine defeated Switzerland with 33-20. The Swiss will be the "tricolors’" adversaries on Saturday, the match taking place at Zurich.
