Ion Martiş, the father of the former referee Marius Martiş, bagă mîna în foc pentru fiul său.

"My son would have never made the things he is accused of! I raised him, I know him very well, and being his father I have the trust that he is innocent! We have to be patient and wait the justice to make its duty. And I am sure that the justice will make its duty in the right way, I know this from my experience of 24 years as qualified accountant. If you are correct and clean, as my son is, and the evidence show this, it is impossible to accuse you unjustly!", declared Ion Martiş.

An influent father
The father said that he didn’t have the strength to go yesterday at Piteşti, to see his son with the hand-cuff: "The entire family is sad. I know he will suffer in the prison, but he has to be patient. He is prepared to endure, he has no alternative! He has at home a girl of 8 months and a boy of 5 years". Ion Martiş is known in Vrancea as an influent business man, with many political connections, a closed friend with "the baron" PSD, Marian Oprişan.

Condemned for robbery
Marius Martiş, who is Nicu Gheară’s , had problems with the law when  he was young, too. In 1992, when he was 18 years old, with other three friends, he dispossessed the Turkish citizen Mustafa Necat of 2.695 dollars. In '95 he was condemned for robbery for two years and two months of prison with reprieve and a supervision of 4 years and two months. In spite of his identification report, Martiş was kept in the team with the best referees until last year, when "the case Penescu" broke out, benefiting by protection on the line Nicu Gheară - Mircea Sandu - CCA.

"After 20 years, I can say that the Federation had never made an arrangement with the referees, at least, not with my agreement. Maybe without my consent they made some arrangements"
Mircea Sandu, the president of FRF

"A referee that was condemned for robbery has nothing to do on the football field!"
Gheorghe Chivorchian, executive director at Poli Timişoara (2008)

Prunea: "Martiş is coming!"
The stenographs of DNA confirm the fact that Marius Martiş had federal protection. "Martiş is coming! But don’t speak to anyone! I will also talk to him before he goes to you!", transmitted Florin Prunea to Cornel Penescu the name of the match FC Argeş - Oţelul 3-2. In that moment, Prunea was the director of the International Departament of FRF.

Advised to run away from the country?
Judicial sources affirm that after "the case Penescu" unleashed, Marius Martiş had been advised to run away from the country in order not to risk to be arrested. To the end of April 2009, exactly during the hearing of "the team Penescu", the referee from Focşani left to Germany, saying that he must suffer an operation at the thyroid gland. But he returned in the country, where he has businesses of millions euro, thinking that everything was over.

THE STENOGRAPHS » "The main pawn"
The name of the referee Marius Martiş appears many times in the stenographs that unleashed the "the case Penescu". The conclusion of the prosecutors DNA: "the central" from Focşani played the agent between the officials of FC Argeş and the referees.

1.
"Făcăleaţă calls Penescu and they discuss about the amount he has to restore as bribe to the assistant referees, saying that <two is enough for each of them>, and about <the main pawn> (the referee Martiş) they will think about this and will discuss, and after 5 minutes the two indictees decide to restore 3.000 dollars as bribe for each assistant referee".

2.
"On October 28, 2008, before the match Gloria Bistriţa - FC Argeş 2-0, Făcăleaţă discusses with the referee Marius Martiş, who warns him that ... from Bistriţa <they have also entered on this line>, <they are desperate> and they take all the measures to win, it won’t be easy".

The surprised contract
Judicial sources affirm that, at the inquisition made in the apartment owned by Ionică Serea, the prosecutors had found a sell and purchase agreement who could incriminate the former "central". It seems that it is about the papers for the purchase of a land outside Focşani and which Serea would have bought one year ago with the money received from Penescu.
